27-goal star joins: 6 summer free agents that are perfect for Coventry City

Coventry City’s emphatic victory over Cheltenham Town this weekend pushed them closer towards a top seven finish and a place in the Sky Bet League Two play-offs.

The Sky Blues are currently sitting in sixth place in the fourth tier, three points clear of Mansfield Town with one game left to play.

They’ve had an inconsistent season, going from a tight defence but shot-shy forward line to leaking goals like a sieve but looking dangerous at the other end of the field. Fans have never known which Coventry will turn up, the one that blew Lincoln City away at Sincil Bank, or capitulated 6-2 at home against Yeovil.

Mark robins’ squad has quality but maybe not the right balance between that and guts. Their recruitment this summer should focus on proven lower league players, or maybe even non-league stars looking for a chance to step up.

After all, Coventry City should be the biggest draw on this stage for a player, bar none. The Ricoh Arena, for all its faults, is a wonderful ground and they’re a massive club.

Here are six out of contract players we thinks they should be taking a look at this summer.
